HISTORY OF THE SECOND BATTALION, TWELFTH INFANTRY REGIMENT VIETNAM

 by Bruce D. Holzhauer

“Abruptly the poker of memory stirs the ashes of recollection
and uncovers a forgotten ember, still smoldering down there,
still hot, still glowing, still red as red.”

William Manchester

Introduction and Acknowlegements
The beginning of this (unofficial) history was my search for what
happened during my tour in Vietnam, and as such, I include some personal Vietnam history and observations.
I trust the reader will forgive me as he or she reads.

I have many people to thank for this history and
time line of the 2/12th, none of this would have been written without their emails and letters. A list of their names is provided at the beginning of the Sources & Bibliography Reading List.

This web-history is unofficial. I try my best to be accurate, and as new information and corrections come in, I post them as soon as I can. With that in mind, the reader should consider this website a living history of the battalion and constantly subject to changes. – Bruce “Sarge” Holzhauer

FIRST TIME READERS
No gory pictures – but plenty of cuss words. NO SPELL CHECK or other electronic aid. Non-military types should read the section called SOLDIER TALK to know the lingo.
